What do I need to get started with Dye Sublimation.

If you already have a computer and a graphic design software program, you can get started in sublimation with minimal capital investment. Power Digital can supply all your computer, software, scanner or camera needs if required.
Additional investment typically includes an Epson ink jet printer fitted sublimation ink cartridges or an preferably Artainium bulk ink system to print your images with.
Your images are printed onto Sublimation paper which is a specially coated paper that is designed to release the dye correctly when heated.
The printed image is then attached to your printable blank using heat proof tape that will not melt under the heat.
The printable blank with the image attached is then placed in appropriate heat press for the transfer process to take place.
The only remaining thing required is the correct pressing times, pressures and tempurature. We provide a comprehensive set of transfer instructions and also offer support with each system we provide.

For production orientated sublimation work a large format ink-jet printer such as the Mimaki JV22-160 can be used in conjunction with a large format placement or roller heat press.

The possibilities are endless when you can to begin creating everything from clothing and full-color sign age to name badges, awards, gift items and more. Once correctly set up with all the necessary equipment , you only require is a little imagination and creativity and the profits can be endless!

Metal Cutter: If you are planning on doing awards and trophies then a metal cutter may in the long run be very valuable. All our metals come pre-cut but by having your own metal cutting you are then able to expand you metal market.

Scanner: Most sublimation business will use a scanner quite regularly to scan photos and artwork. If you are targeting the personalised market a scanner will be a must however the promotional market may not require one as much as most artwork should be provided to you by disk or e-mail.

Digital camera: With the changes in technology and then endless things you can now do with a digital camera it may be an invaluable item to have for your business. Taking photos of your items for your web page, newsletters, or even for taking photos of your customers for a personalised item will require a digital camera.

Miscellaneous: There are some miscellaneous items that you may or may not require depending on your target market. Some of these items may include corner cutters for metal, clear glaze resin for UV doming, clear glaze doming unit and heat transfer mats for tiles and ceramic ornaments.
