Sublimation Flock Transfer
Sublimation Flock is a thermal transfer film suitable for printing with the dye-sublimation process. Once printed it is cut and then transferred to cotton, polyester and many other types of fabrics. Sublimation Flock is suitable for putting all designs and images on clothing, sportswear, caps and fabric using the sublimation process. It enables you to use the dye sublimation process for non-polyester fabric.
The example below shows the process using the normal transfer methods. Some customer are using large format sublimation printers and drying tunnels prior to cutting.
| The following is an example of the process. |
1. Print your sublimation paper as you normally would for fabric. |
 |
2. Place the paper face down on the flock and press as normal. Usually around 200 degres celcius for about 40 seconds. |
 |
3. Once pressed remove the transfer paper. |
 |
4. The images can be cut by hand. The easiest way is to use a vinyl cutting plotter with automatic registration mark detection such as the Mimaki CG and SR series.
The newly released Mimaki CG60SR is an ideal unit for desktop sublimators. It opens up a whole new range of profitable opportunities. |
 |
5. Peel the cut sticker from the backing paper and place on the item in a heat press.
Note - If you are sublimating a large area you may need to cut the edges to seperate the flock from the backing.
Press at 155 degrees celsius for 12 to 15 seconds .
